Operation Clean Sweep
WHAT IS OPERATION CLEAN SWEEP?
Pollution of our oceans with plastics, including microplastics, has attracted a lot of attention over recent months and years. A seriously underestimated worldwide problem. Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) is an initiative by the European plastic-processing industry to significantly reduce pollution of our environment throughout the production chain. Bekina plays a leading role within the plastics sector and aims to do the same in the area of sustainability.
NO CONTAMINATION DURING REMOVAL OF PELLETS
For the injection moulding of our products, Bekina Indurub purchases plastic pellets. During delivery of these pellets, it is possible that a sack might tear, for example. This can result in plastic pellets and dust entering the environment and therefore our watercourses and world seas. To address this problem, ‘Operation Clean Sweep’ signs were installed, along with the necessary cleaning materials. In this way, we aim to inform everyone involved (our own employees as well as lorry drivers) of the importance of cleaning up any possible loss of pellets immediately.
PLASTIC PELLETS AND DUST WITHIN THE COMPANY WALLS
The OCS principles apply within the company walls too, so no plastic pellets end up in our environment, Bekina Indurub operators and technicians go further and further every day to trace and reduce such losses. Resulting in a spotlessly clean factory and pleasant place to work.
In addition to Operation Clean Sweep, we also support a large number of other sustainability initiatives.
