New solar panels

Solarpanels on the buidling of Bekina

Bekina continues to invest. In, around and on top of our company building. Green energy is a key part of our journey towards becoming an even more sustainable business. That’s why, this year, we are investing in the renovation of our roof as well as new solar panels. First the roof surface was updated with extra insulation and white roofing material. These well-insulated white roofs also help keep the heat out, reducing the need for cooling of the spaces beneath. The adjustment will deliver a difference of up to 4°C in these spaces and contribute to improved comfort in the workplace.

After the roof was renovated, a total of 1674 solar panels were installed on the roofs of Bekina Boots and Bekina Compounds. That represents 850,000 kWh/year, which is comparable to the consumption of 240 families. Thanks to this installation, our business will be able to generate 26% of our consumption ourselves. This 26% is cumulative with the solar panels that have already been installed on the roofs at Bekina Indurub. The sustainable development goals (SDGs) that we are contributing towards with this initiative are: affordable and clean energy (7) and climate action (13).
